INCLUSIVE RECYCLING MODELS in brazil and chile

Goal: Economic feasibility study and social and environmental impact assessment of Ecoampla (Brazil) and Ecochilectra (Chile) social recycling projects.
Motivation: Understand the usefulness and impact of the rewarding system –waste for energy- aiming to ease access to electricity as a basic service to low and middle income population implemented by Ampla and Chilectra. Analyze the rewarding system potentiality as a social awareness tool. Additionally, explore the challenges and strategies for integrating informal recyclers in Ecoampla and Ecochilectra's waste management programs.
Impact / Expected impact: At a first stage, two business cases have been developed from a diagnosis of Ecoampla and Ecochilectra’s recycling programs. At a second stage, an action plan enhancing the social and economic impact of Ecoampla and Ecochilectra is being designed and executed. The implementation results will be included in a final and integral business case showing the rewarding for recycling type systems' total potential, and serving as a motivational and inspirational tool for other companies thinking of implementing similar systems.
